Happy Halloween

Halloween is one of our family's favorite holidays, and this year was no exception.  Although this year the entire family didn't have the same themed costumes, but just Nate Will and Mer - they were pirates!  Dave and I donned our ever reliable hippie costumes, and Elise created her own hippy type of costume with friends.
While Halloween is not widely celebrated in Switzerland, it is catching on a bit.  Nate, Will and Meredith went trick-or-treating with a group of their friends from the international school and had a great time - with Nate's friends, Jan, Linus and Dominik who all live on the same street (Linus' younger brother Ben came too), and Will's friend Maja who is also on their street.  They did some trick-or treating and I had a chance to celebrate a bit with the moms!  Then we all came over to our neighborhood which was a bonanza for trick-or-treating!  The kids had so much fun, and I had fun talking to some neighbors I hadn't met before.  The funniest thing is when someone comes to the door who has no idea about trick-or-treating and they rummage through their house to find something to give to the kids!  Our kids got a bunch of mints, some bags of chips, crackers, etc.  But many of the houses in our neighborhood were ready! :)  Elise went to a friend's house where she and 3 other girls had their own party - carving pumpkins, dressing up and going trick-or-treating.

On Saturday night we went to the Halloween Party at the international school, and it was, as always, so much fun.  The trunk-or-treating had a mix of candy and prizes, and there were fun games and activities for the kids.  It's always a fun, festive evening!  Elise had a volleyball tournament that day, and they didn't get back until the party was almost over, so her costume was a volleyball player...

It was a very fun weekend (although Will's pumpkin doesn't look like he's having much fun)!
