From Washington, DC, we drove down to South Carolina to see my sister Susan and her family in Spartanburg. On the way we stopped at Duke in North Carolina. While we were just there for a short time, it was fun for Dave to see his alma mater and show the kids.
We had a nice long Easter weekend with Susan, Lee, Byron, Daniel and Emma (Liz was in Utah finishing at Utah State and Troy is on a mission in New Mexico). We went to a play at the college where Lee teaches on Saturday, then went to an amazing lunch at a crepe restaurant, Mon Amie (we've had some good crepes, and these were definitely some of the best!). Who would have guessed we'd find such good crepes in South Carolina! Sunday after church we went for a walk along the river. Then we colored Easter eggs, and the kids did some experiment with an egg and a bottle (I think they were trying to get the egg inside the bottle, but it exploded out!). It was really fun to see the kids playing with their cousins, and it was great for me to have some time together with Susan!
After South Carolina, Dave went on to Chicago for work, and I went with the kids to New York for Elise's week of physical therapy. This time we visited our favorite places again, like Times Square, Ellen's Diner, Central Park, etc. We also went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art (it was a trade-off...I got the kids to go there with me in exchange for their getting to go to Dylan's Candy Shop afterwards). We also went to the Top of the Rock observation tower this time, which was a lot of fun. We saw Lion King on Broadway and it was absolutely amazing. The costumes and sets were incredible - a great experience! Then we added one more Broadway show...Matilda, which was a fun show as well.
