Barcelona

We spent the second half of October break in Barcelona.  Dave and I had been there before, but this was the first time for the whole family together.  Barcelona is a great city - so unique and vibrant.  Dave had a work conference there, so he was working a couple of the days, but we had a nice time touring around, eating lots of tapas, and enjoying the great atmosphere of the city.

We started with a tour of Camp Nou, the stadium of FC Barcelona.  It was very cool to see the stadium, the visitors' locker room, and the museum.

Nathan even got a personalised shirt.
We then took a bus tour of the city, seeing some of the Gaudi buildings.

An old bullfighting arena was turned into a shopping mall and entertainment centre (we ate at a restaurant on the top floor one evening).

We saw the cathedral in the old town just off La Rambla.

We went to a Flamenco show with dinner!

We also took a tour of of the invention museum where we saw a hurricane simulator.  Nathan also tried out a cool snack vending machine where you peddle to burn enough calories in a set amount of time.  If you made it, you got the snack for free!

The Magic Fountains at Montjuic are so much fun - the fountains are choreographed to music and lights.  The kids bought some cool slingshot light spinners that they had fun with while watching the fountains.

We found some very cool fruits in La Boqueria Market, not to mention some very interesting seafood...

And no trip to Barcelona is complete without a visit to La Sagrada Familia.  We admired it from both outside and inside.

We stayed at a great apartment in the center of the city near Placa de Catalunya.  We were warned before we came about pickpockets, and it really is a problem.  But luckily we were able to avoid any problems with pickpockets on the streets and subways.  We had a great time in Barcelona!
