William's Baptism

William was baptized and confirmed a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Sunday, August 24, 2014.  Congratulations, Will!

It was a great day.  William was supported by some wonderful friends from church and school: The Piwko, Gunvad, Rinaldi and Doustdar families were there from school.  From church the Kriesch, Da Rocha, Uchtdorf, Maglio, Drewlow, Mueller, Peter Locher, Eckart, Riday and Obrist families were there.

William sang "Today I Will Be Baptized" on his own, then together with Meredith they sang "I Am a Child of God".  Nathan read a scripture about baptism, and Elise, in addition to accompanying the kids singing and also leading the songs for the congregation, played Clair de Lune, which was amazing.  Dave of course baptized and confirmed William and I gave a talk on the Holy Ghost.  In the circle for the confirmation were Dave, Bishop Sandro Kriesch, former Bishop Guido Uchtdorf, and Rocco Maglio.

It was a very special day for our family, but especially so because of so many kind friends who were there to support William and all of our family.  We are truly blessed with the gospel and amazing friends!

Rome

We had a great 4-day weekend in Rome!  Who goes to Rome for the weekend? ...luckily we can do that when we live in Zurich.

Dave and I had been to Rome before we moved to Europe on a Bain trip, but the kids hadn't been.  We took the train from Zurich to Milan, then the high-speed train to Rome.  We stayed at a cute little hotel called Hotel Regno in the center of the city, a block away from Trevi Fountain.
The great food began at the Milan train station!

We had a great tour guide for the Forum and Colosseum.  He was an American with a PhD in Ancient Roman Topography!  He teaches in Rome and made all the history and information so accessible.

There were so many cute shops around our hotel - they kids love this Pinocchio wood shop.  And of course we loved all the gelato shops (we had it every day...sometimes twice a day).

We visited the Spanish Steps and ate at a restaurant at the top.

We had a tour of the Vatican and Sistine Chapel which allowed us to skip the line (which was great).  But the tour got a little long going through all the museums.  But it was great to see the Sistine Chapel as well as the Vatican.
